A few of the older posters here at the forum decided to go to Club Retro on Saturday night. The old brigade being Craggle, myself and Stu - who brought a couple of women with him (one was his so called "girlfriend", but we preferred to call this person his "inflatable", until we actually met her).

Craggle and myself were at Club Retro at the Nerd time of 9:30pm. Craggle thought out loud that he wanted to see more nerd like women, in order for him to have a chance at putting his patented Craggle moves on them. Craggle and I were Club Retro Virgins and were not sure what the night would be about.

Stu was of course too cool to be at a nightclub before 11PM. Although we thought that perhaps it was Stu's women who took their time glamming up.

While we were waiting (and breathing second hand smoke - c'mon July 1 !!!), someone conveniently threw up at the stairs. Craggle saw it as his duty to point this out to mananagement and unfortunately to myself as well. Craggle even provided a description "CHUNKY...." Thanks Craggle.

We endured the Jarimiqui CD, while waiting for Stu to turn up.
He finally turned up, with ladies in hand and we hit the dance floor to old school hits such as Sir Mix A Lot's Rumpshaker, a couple of Whitney Houston songs *shudder* and to top it all of, Craggle actually knew the words to an old Spice Girls song......he was even actually doing the song's patented dance moves!!! "Stop right there, thank you very much...." I think we did the robot dance moves a couple of times.....and I decided to do umpiring signals as part of my dance moves repertoire...... Very Happy

A downer was this tool, who was trying break dancing moves in a limited amount of space on the dance floor - elbows and legs were flying in every direction Angry

Also, unfortunately, the songs *I* requested did not exist in the DJ's playlist Frustrated Perhaps next time Naughty by Nature's Hip Hop Hooray and OPP will be burning up the dance floor. Although a classic Run DMC did make the cut.

And last but not least - A woman wanted to dance with me - the age, appearance and the question of whether this woman was actually sobre shall remain unanswered. I tried to talk her into dancing with Craggle. He declined. Stu's girl wasn't happy that I didn't reciprocate in the mating dance of Club Retro Shocked

To end a long story short. I took the night rider bus home and was in bed snoring by 4AM Sunday Morning. Renae and Sally (who I mused to Craggle, looked a little like Janine Turner, Craggle looked puzzled and said in not too many words, "%$*# no!" ) ran to catch the last tram available, with Stu in slow pursuit.

Craggle decided to stay back - wonder if he got lucky. Only he shall know.

I can tell you, as part of the Male population, how some of the ladies were dressed, when going to the city, night clubbing were eye opening - in the nicest possible way. A few of them would have been VERY cold. Very Happy And a few couples - according to Stu - should have found a room, to show how much they ah...like each other.

We'll probably go to club again when the July 1 deadline of smokers out of the club kicks in.....I reckon next time I'll drive into the city.

See ya'll at 'G next Saturday!

PS> The Right Said Fred song - certainly inspired some of the people to actually take their shirts off - unfortunately only the men did Sad

Now if only we could talk Deano into coming along - his excuse to not turning up - the phrase "too daggy" was used. I'm not sure if it was the club he was talking about, or himself dancing. We shall see.

Yeah, arriving at a club at start time, is just not cool.

Sir Mix-A-Lot's track was - Baby Got Back, Wrexk'n'effects do Rump Shaker. ;)

And yes, Craggle knowing all the words to the Spice Girls was down right embaressing.

Almost ended up at Retro myself last night/this morning before my mates decided to go home. Partied on at Bimbos, before moving across the road for a few more, before going to Lambs for a souvlaki and strolling home about 6.

Great night out, good way to celebrate end of exams.

Top night that was! My first time to ever go to an Aussie nightclub - at my age? Yep.

Stu and his posse, plus Dex, were a bunch of wusses and left at 1am. Pfft, as Chrissy would say.

As for me, I hung around till 4am, and partied up a storm. Mostly solo dancing, being a big chicken. Man, the 80s rocked big time, so many songs, so many memories. I haven't danced that much... well never!

So, do yourself a favour, and party on dudes!

You need to check out fFour as well, it's in Little Collins Street, and plays eighties tunes every Friday night, PLUS it's 2 for 1 drinks! Cheapskates of the 80s unite!!

I guess Craig & Dex had the last laugh, they walked straight in, whilst we had to line up in the F-ER-EZZZZZZZING cold for 20 mins.

I usually goto the pub first until stumps and then goto the clubs. But there's nothing wrong with going around 930/10, makes sense to me- less wait for drinks so when every other idiot is lining up leaving all the ladies alone, you can move in- thats good thinking Craggle ;)
