| Quote: | LEADING rails bookmaker Simon Beasley will face the Racing Appeals & Disciplinary Board to answer myriad charges relating to his bookmaking activities.
Beasley, a former AFL star full forward with Footscray, was charged today with breaking three separate Rules Of Racing.
The Racing Victoria Limited Integrity Services department noted the period of Beasley’s bookmaker activities under question stretched from April 21, 2006 to November 19, 2008.
Beasley has been charged under Australian Rule of Racing 175 (a), which deals with any person found guilty of any dishonest, corrupt, fraudulent, improper or dishonourable action or practice in connection with racing.
It’s believed this charge relates to recording of hundreds of bets, involving both horse racing and sports betting.
He has also been charged under AR Rule 175 (g), which relates to any person who gives at any inquiry or appeal any evidence, which in their opinion is false or misleading.
And, he has further been charged under AR Rule 175 (gg), which states any person who makes any false or misleading statement or declaration in respect of any matter in connection with the administration or control of racing.
Beasley will appear before the RADB at a date to be fixed. |
