That's pretty good, but as a comparison the Demons signed 16,000 as of last week.

It's the do-gooder "members" that didn't support NMFC yet purchased a membership for them last year, who are now "assisting" Melbourne IMO.

I "assisted" Melbourne as well. Nothing wrong with it, God knows the Bulldogs get a fair hit out of my wallet, so didn't feel the slightest guilt.

With the Bulldogs, yeah of course. I didn't renew my Melbourne membership though. One year's help from a non-supporter is more than enough.

I was a bit concerned about the membership pack this year. They've done away with the scarf, and a lot of the stuff looks overly cheap. I'm aware we have no major sponsor signed, but taking the cuts to the immediate product might put some supporters off, especially the ones who were umming and arring in the first place. I know a few who bought memberships for the scarves. Sounds silly, but there you have it. A lot of supporters are very fickle like that.

Added to that, the way they are treating supporters clubs now.

Disgraceful.

I think they are maybe trying to shore up the club against the possibility of starting the season sans a major sponsor. But the worst place to make cuts is to your product, which for most supporters is football and merchandise. OK, some of us here are fanatical and will just buy a membership because we love the Dogs, but put yourself in the shoes of somebody who's not so into it but thinking of becoming a member anyway, then they see that the merchandise is a bit on the cheap side and the supporters are a prime target of cutbacks. They'd be thinking "2009 may not be the best year to buy little Jimmy a membership".

Another issue I have is with the draw and interstate games. Whilst not a fault of the club's, or even under it's control, I have to buy my two boys tickets to Subiaco (in addition to one for me) to see the Dogs play West Coast in Round 4 next year. They are both Full Cheer Squad Junior Members, and this is the only game they will see. It's a good thing Daddy is a fanatic, or they wouldn't bother with memberships I suppose...

Little Jimmy wouldn't care what he got, as long as he got some goodies, he'd love the pencil case with a doggies logo on the side.

I don't care about all the peripheral stuff.

Just give me a card, 22 games during the H&A season with 22 players giving 100%, and a premiership before Freo, Gold Coast and Richmond.
(West Sydney will never get a team).

I don't care for it either, but merely noticed the drop in quality and pointed out it's possible effect on recruiting new members.

Well then they are joining up for all the wrong reasons, and if so fickle, probably wouldn't really join anyway, plus kids don't care about quality, they just like some goodies, in which we get....scarf, cap, dvd, key ring, stickers, a pencil case for kids etc, seems like some people just like to sook for the sake of it.

Besides, i don't get whats so bad about the things we get anyway, the quality hasn't dropped off!

This year we got a pencil case thing kids would love, in the past, some crappy stainless steal tin thing thats good for nothing, probabaly costs way more than whats its useful for, a dvd case thing that also would be just thrown away.

OK dude, I'm not gonna go back and forth all day with it. I'd invite you to check out Hawthorn's success with their scarves. Otherwise, yeah, agree to disagree.
