Absolutely spewing about this news, he was the Werribe Footy Club imo, he is an awesome player, and awesome leader and an awesome guy off the field from what ive seen, he will be missed by the werribee footy club and its supporters, ill have to make my way to watch some geelong games this year, NOT.

Pods moves on
The Werribee Football Club has been informed by James Podsiadly that he has rejected the club’s new contract offer and will be continuing his football career with the Geelong Football Club in 2009.
In his 6 years at Werribee, James achieved a great deal:
· 150 VFL games, more than 100 of those with the Tigers.
· Represented the Big V on 4 occasions, once as vice captain.
· Won the Frosty Miller Medal as leading goal kicker in the competition,
· Won two club Best and Fairest Awards
· Won the J.J Liston Trophy in 2008.
He was captain of the club for the past two years, leading the club to the 2008 Preliminary final beaten by the eventual premiers by less than 2 goals.
James also had the full support of the club during his attempts to break into the AFL, at the Western Bulldogs and Richmond.
Despite that, and the very reasonable and lucrative offer made to James by the Tigers, he has decided to pursue his football and his future with Geelong.
President John Nicol said “ While the club is disappointed that such an outstanding contributor as James, who was recently made a life member, has made this decision to go to Geelong. He thanked him for his service to the club and wished him all the best for his future at Geelong and beyond. Like all past players James is always welcome at Bartercard Oval.
The club wants to assure its supporters and sponsors that the Werribee Football Club is a very committed group and will continue to develop players for the future, players who represent Werribee at the highest level on and off the field and enjoy the continuing success of the club. |

That is MASSIVE news, the equivilent of say Jonathon Brown leaving Brisbane, Lance Franklin leaving Hawthorn or Matthew Pavlich leaving Freo.
He was their marquee player.
Very interesting as well considering that after the finals, he said flat out that he wanted to play out his career at Werrribee, and hopefully get a Premiership their. |

Money talks, but he is not professional so you can't blame him.

What everyone is missing is that his new job is with GFC, so him leaving Werribee to play for Geelong was a no brainer.
Word in the Hollow is that he may even be given the captaincy. |

True, Dale.
I think him going over to the Cats was more to do with his career in fitness/sports science rather than wanting to change clubs just as a player.
People seem to forget about his day job and the like.

That is true, but at the same time, for passonate supporters, it has to be somewhat disappointing in losing players to rival clubs, especially your big marquee player, it's a tough one.
For what it's worth, for someone who has given great service to Werribee, someone that has done it tough, being an AFL rookie listed player twice, been invited to train a few times with AFL clubs, a player that could play AFL, you can't blame him for wanting to chase some $$$, afterall, his family is more important than his footy club. |

You might find he wasn't chasing footy $$$, more like employment $$$.
His job entails working within the GFC, and there was a conflict of interest if he were to continue at Werribee.
This is entirely a different situation for when players swap clubs specifically for footy $$$. |

Absolutely Dale, unfortunately a few people seem to think otherwise and I find this annoying because not everyone knows the full story behind his move to Geelong.
On another note, does any think that having Nathan Thompson at Werribee will help to fill the void left by Pods?
