Now we farewell a true champion of the game in Scotty West, has made that number his own, but it's time to move on, i'm sure Scotty would love to hand this jumper down to a future star, and hopefully make the great man proud, as much as Douggie Hawkins would have been watching Westy run around in his old number.
For mine, i'd go Callan Ward, for a few reasons, he's definatly a future star, has gun written all over him, but he also looks like a very dedicated kid, one that will go out and go at 110%.
The other was that when Scotty West first started at the Whitten Oval, he himself was runing around in the number 14, the same number Ward has started off with, would be just a very good story, and similar to the Chris Grant / Andrejs Everitt handover, 29 to 3. _________________

Retire it next season. Then Callan Ward ftw in 2010. _________________ "It would be great to be playing in finals and in teams that are winning all the time, but I chose to come to Richmond" - Nathan G. Brown |

Torn between Morris and Ward, and went with Morris - mainly because he has a lot of the attributes of Westy, a tough, gutsy player, without a lot of flair, who gets the job done. _________________ 2009... new year, same dream... Bulldogs for the flag! |

I wonder how many players would've won a brownlow and then changed their numbers at the same club. _________________ "It would be great to be playing in finals and in teams that are winning all the time, but I chose to come to Richmond" - Nathan G. Brown |

I'd like to the think that the likes of Coons & Griff have established themselves in their numbers, both low numbers, plus Cooney's made the number 17 his own, especially after that flog that used to wear it, Cooney wipes the floor with that clown. _________________

I think it needs a breather for the next year. Then let's re-evaluate the situation. I'd expect it to be rushed though. _________________ WWW.SONSOFTHESCRAY.COM |

Well, if they wouldn't rest the '3' for Grant, they won't rest the '7'.
It should go to Callan Ward or Harbrow. _________________

Did the club decide to pass the number on or did Chris Grant request his number be passed onto Everitt? I thought it was the latter. I honestly don't think there is an obvious candidate for the 7 ie. a youngster with a high number who looks almost certain to play 100+ games.
I think it will go to Ward, but I don't think we can be sure of his credentials until the end of next season. _________________ "It would be great to be playing in finals and in teams that are winning all the time, but I chose to come to Richmond" - Nathan G. Brown |

Bit of shock, thought Higgins would want to keep his own number. _________________
