Football first and foremost.

Others of interest are mens 100m sprint, marathon, boxing, basketball, handball, table-tennis and weightlifting.

Sure do. Kick-off is now, but the match shown on 2 hour delay from 9pm.

Don't even start!

Why show live Olympic matches involving Australia when you can show Home & Away and Make Me a Supermodel?

Sorry to preach guys, but this must be said...

I won't be watching anything. I don't want to be contributing a single cent to a situation like the one in China. I don't know how much history you guys have studied, but I've studied WW1 and WW2 in great detail, and I can tell you right now, that this is almost exactly the circumstances of the 1936 Berlin Olympics. It's not OK to turn a blind eye to genocide for the sake of sport. I love the Olympics, every other olympiad of my life I've created scrap books, followed almost every sport, and pretty much got right into it ('cept the synchronised swimming), but what's happening in China is only going to get worse with the billions this is pumping into their already monstrous economy, plus the legitimacy given to their form of government.

So, guys, by all means enjoy the Olympics, but please at least be aware: your money is helping towards funding the killing of men, women and children in a situation fast becoming this century's Jewish holocaust.

I am going to ignore the post above me, because while I agree in some aspects, there are others that I don't.

I'm looking forward to the basketball (naturally, Boomers may go okay but won't expect a medal and the Opals, where can they be faulted with their current team? Go girls!), the swimming of course. I could do without the equestrian, walking. I mean seriously, these aren't sports!

LOL Ryan, you forgot rhythmic gymnastics in your post!

In all fairness, I'm not really interested in the Games this year. Meh.

I'm with you, old chum. I'll be boycotting these Olympics. I love the Olympics, but I think its wrong that a country like China, with its awful human rights track record (you think the US is bad with Gitmo, they've got nothing on these guys), can get the Olympics. Didn't we learn anything from the Berlin Olympics?!! What's next... the Burma Olympics?!

I can understand where your coming from, and yes the situation over there is a disgrace, but i'll support all the athletes who don't have a choice where to compete, the athletes who have trained their gut out for 4 years for these games, and whilst there are Aussies competing, i'll be supporting 100%.

Pretty much, although i'm not sure how you would compare a sporting event to a war! But i guess we are all different, i enjoy the Olympics, War's can get stuffed.

I watch the Olympics as a sporting event, and if i took a stand wherever they have set the games up, i guess i wouldn't have watched a whole lot of it over the years, there is always some kind of controversy wherever the Olympics have been held, Moscow in 1980 was the first i really remember being a 10 year old, even then there were "issues".

At the end of the day [pardon the pun], i have always enjoyed watching the Olympics WHEREVER it's held.
