Well it wasnt a win, in fact Werribee got smashed, absolutely smashed, especially out of the middle.
Nothing out of todays game for me, except i loved watching #5 run around port melb, and the port fans are jsut as feral as they always have been. |

Kangaroos listed players for Werribee
Seniors
29.Goldstein- first game back in Werribee colours after making his AFL debut against Port Adelaide and did well with 31 hit outs. Had 17 disposals and also kicked a goal.
30.Greenwood- did a mountain of work all over the ground and made sure that his opponents had to work hard for the ball, finished the game with 17 disposals.
31.Riggio- an improvement on the game two weeks ago as he racked up 28 disposals, 4 clearances, 4 tackles and a goal. I think that yesterday's performance would push his chances of being included in the AFL team.
34.Davies- was better defensively today with 3 clearances, 2 tackles and a block. Had 23 disposals and didn't stop running all day.
36.Scott Thompson- was good in patches running off half back but struggled to be fully effective against the Port Melbourne forwards and finished with 14 disposals.
40.Obst- 19 disposals, 2 hitouts, 4 clearances, 1 tackle and 5 five spoils in a good performance that saw him play forward as well as in the ruck. Kicked 2 goals.
45.Warren- again dropped a few marks but his leads were good and did some team things around the ground.
Dom Gleeson finished with 28 disposals and two goals in a superb best on ground performance, he will definitely poll well in our b & f this year.
Michael Barlow had 20 disposals and kicked three goals, but wasn't consisntent across all four quarters.
Pods finished with two goals, the midfielder struggled to get the ball down to and they would be disappointed with their inability to shake off a strong Port Melbourne defence.
Reserves
47.Wilsen- played mostly down back and was good in patches at different stages of the game, although not one of the better players.
Port Melbourne 6.5 14.7 21.10 26.12 (168)
Werribee Tigers 4.1 6.6 12.8 16.12 (108)
Werribee Tigers
GOALS: Henderson 3 Barlow 3 Obst 2 Gleeson 2 Podsiadly 2 Davies Riggio Castello Goldstein

Big game and a pretty disappointing result. Looks like we were completely blown away.
Mel, Ben? Was it just an off day, or do we not have the class to match them? _________________ "It would be great to be playing in finals and in teams that are winning all the time, but I chose to come to Richmond" - Nathan G. Brown |

I think a few people have been getting really excited about Werribees performances over the last 4-5 weeks(me included). But 4 of those games were home games, and we beat Tassie in Tassie.
Its a very very worrying sign when Werribee play so crap at TEAC oval, considering thats where the finals are played.
Theres been a heap of changes at Werribee this year, so ive got idea what to expect come finals time(if we make it, im pretty sure we will tho). |
