They are clearly head & shoulders above the rest.

Discuss.

Yes. Yes, they should give Geelong the premiership cup. And they should make C'wood runners up since they're brilliant at coming second in GFs Very Happy

In all seriousness, the magical day in September, anything can happen and who knows what can happen in the last remaining rounds. I believe that Geelong may be the only true contenders (how could anyone doubt it?), yet I don't believe the Bulldogs/Hawthorn etc are pretenders (lie - I believe St Kilda are pretenders), and anyone can make a challenge in September. Someone has to. May as well be us.

...I would like it to be us that gets a hold of the cup on that fateful day and I would like m_w to be wrong. Because he generally never is.

I still think we haven't even peaked yet, and are still looking good.

Our group a part from Johno, Aker, Westy & Welsh, have a average age of 23.

So you agree that Geelong pretty much have it sewn up this year, and we'll come good in the next 2 - 6 years?

I would agree that we probably won't beat them this year, but there is always a chance.

In my opinion with in the next 2-5 years will we be right up there every year, and pushing very very hard.

Well, I've bet a 1L bottle of Chivas Regal Royal Salute (worth about $450 for those of us who aren't alcos like me) with my cousin on the Cats not winning the flag.

Now, it would seem likely that I'll be forking over a beautiful, smooth, 21 year old single malt, but you never know, I may just be getting wasted on my good foresight.

The thing about Grand Finals is, not a soul on heaven or earth has a clue until the final siren. As proven to Brisbane in 2004, for example.

I don't know why you just like giving away good money, it's no wonder you never have any of it.

Geelong are $1.62 favourites to win the flag, so your Chivas might be quaking in it's boots right now.

Look, I've still got time to spike their drink bottles with a banned substance, so let's just wait until the fat lady sings OK?

i dont think you can say its all over yet, theres still that game against collingwood where they werent just beaten, but completely smashed, and it was basically their full-strength team. I reckon anything can happen in any given game. upsets happen all the time, however unlikely, geelong have to earn the cup by winning it on GF day.

I think Stu is just buying into all the media frenzy. They bleed. They will be killed.

Not at all, i've seen them play, i see their record over the past 2 seasons, i don't see any realistic challengers at this stage.

I HOPE i'm proven wrong by the team of the mighty west.

Just a point, too, just because a team is favourite in the betting to win the flag, simply does not have any effect whatsoever on the outcome of the season. It's a good indicator of the wider perception of a team's current form, nothing more.

Reminds me of a Simpsons episode...

Moe: All right, Homer, I'm not gonna lie to you. There's a good chance you can beat Tatum. But you gotta visualize how you're gonna win, okay?

Homer: Gotcha.

[dreams on about his victory]

Announcer: A congenital heart defect has apparently felled Tatum moments before he could step into the ring.

I'm not looking at the press, the odds, whatever, i'm just going off what i have seen of them, like you do with all dominant teams of the past, like Essendon of 2000, like Brisbane in their hay day, like Carlton in 95 etc, they do the job whatever it takes, they make all opponents look second rate.

Thats not saying some team on their day can't defeat them, make em bleed atc, Collingwood made a meal of them during the season in their only defeat during the season to date, just like we did to Essendon in 2000.

BUT, when it comes to the crunch, to the big games, the games that matter most, thats when these dominant teams play for real, and not muck around.

Like i said, i really hope i'm proven wrong, and am backing the Dogs 110%, thats a given, but unfortunately i can't see any team getting near them, and i can't see you keeping that bottle of alc!
