Richmond AFL footballer Graham Polak is in a critical but stable condition after being hit by a tram in Melbourne last night.
Mr Polak was crossing the road at the Orrong and Dandenong roads intersection in Armadale around 11.30 pm.
The 24-year-old Prahan man was treated by paramedics and taken to The Alfred hospital. He is believed to be suffering head injuries.
A hospital spokeswoman said Mr Polak was in a critical but stable condition.
Police have confirmed the man involved in the incident was the Richmond key position player. |
Hope he's alright, poor bugger... _________________

Have just been watching afl game day on ch7, pretty sure they said hes been put in a coma just to be safe. They dont want any extra movement from him jsut in case.
They also said he went out after the 100 years celebrations, with Jordaman and another player i cant think who it is now, but they said he wasa running to get a taxi, didnt look when he crossed the rd and yeah got hit.
I woulda have thought he would have heard the tram, but i wasnt there so ive got no idea what happened.
Hope he gets through this fine. |

I heard this this morning on the Southern Cross Network News at 5am, was till half asleep and didn't think i heard right.
He was with Jordy & Cleve Hughes at the time.
Listed as critical but stable, in an induced coma, but has no swelling to the brain which is very good news. _________________

I would've thought it be difficult to get hit by a tram at an intersection. Might have the peripheral vision of Koschitzke.
Wish him all the best in his recovery. Sounds like he should be fine, just taking all necessary precautions. _________________ "It would be great to be playing in finals and in teams that are winning all the time, but I chose to come to Richmond" - Nathan G. Brown |

I believe the intersection where he got struck, there are alot of trees either side of the track, which more than likely obstructed his view, he just hopped out of a taxi, could have taken him a few moments to really focus [which can happen], with all the noise from traffic & overhead lights etc, he obviously just didn't see the tram. _________________
