Cant wait to see Guy in the doggies senior team, will make my day.

Ill be going out and getting a new jumper with #30 on my back, and wearing it that day, then go bak to wearing #27 lol.

But yeah Guys been very good for Willytown this year, and hopefully he gets a game soon, cause he deserves it, although its pretty hard to break into the senior team this year.

Willy fires up after home truths from coach

A POWERFUL three quarter-time spray from Williamstown coach Brad Gotch was enough to inspire the ladder-leaders to a gritty 14-point win against Frankston at Burbank Oval yesterday.

Gotch was disgusted at his troops inability to win the contested ball as Frankston took a 14-point lead into the final term and looked like inflicting Willy with just its second loss of the season.

But Gotch's words hit the right buttons as the Seagulls, aided by the work rate of David Stretton and Western Bulldogs utility Jarrod Harbrow, piled on five unanswered goals to win 18.13 (121) to 16.11 (107).

"I don't rev them up too often, but I was just disappointed with their attitude at three-quarter time," Gotch said.

"They were really down on themselves and we were only 14 points down so I just asked for a little bit more.

"We weren't good in the clinches and we weren't hard enough at the ball - and that's our strength."

Frankston's star midfielders Justin Berry (26 possessions, three goals) and Neil Winterton (32 disposals) had controlled the centre corridor setting forwards Michael Lourey (four goals) and Aaron Murray (three goals) to wreak havoc.

But Williamstown led by Stretton (30 touches) and captain Brett Johnson (24 disposals) and strong forwards Jason Cloke (eight marks, three goals) and Dean Galea (10 marks, three goals) charged home.

The Dolphins were unlucky with captain Shaun Pollard going down with a serious knee injury halfway through the last quarter.

Pollard, who will have his right knee assessed today by a club doctor, said his side blew it in the final quarter.

"Leading at three quarter-time we obviously knew we were a chance to win it and we weren't getting too far ahead of ourselves," he said.

"But we let ourselves down in the last quarter and we dropped away a bit in the end."

Top placed Williamstown hosted 7th placed Frankston at Burbank Oval in Round 10 of VFL football. Williamstown made only one change to the side which defeated the Northern Bullants the previous week – Stephen Tiller came in for the dropped Kane McKenzie.

FIRST QUARTER

Frankston won the toss and kicked to the scoreboard end which was favoured with a slight breeze. Peter Street who has been a dominant player found a young opponent in Peder Whelan (207cm) who was very competitive in the ruck. Frankston’s midfielders were running amok through Winterton, Berry, Mariglani and Morris and up forward Lourey, Murray and former Seagull Limbach were dangerous. Williamstown lacked their normal assuredness and without the efforts of Jason Cloke, Jarrod Harbrow and David Stretton would have trailed by more than 4 goals.

SECOND QUARTER

Williamstown lifted in the second quarter and found a winning forward in Dean Galea who provided a great marking target. He kicked 2 goals and unselfishly set up Josh Hill for his first goal. Scott Meyer moved on to Limbach and Harbrow went to the backline and provided plenty of run. Sam Reid and Easton Wood lifted and Guy O’Keefe after a quiet first term was dominant in this quarter. Liam Picken was playing his normal solid game and Ben Jolley and Brett Johnson lifter their workrate which resulted in the Seagulls kicking 8 straight goals to grab slender lead at half time.

THIRD QUARTER

Willi was unable to shake off a persistent and brave Frankston who continued to play a high quality game. Peter Street and Cameron Wight lifted on ball and Meyer, Cook, McDougall and Stack were under siege up back. Matthew Little who had a quiet day marked strongly on two occasions to goal but Frankston were able to maintain their intensity to open up a 14 point lead at the final break.

FOURTH QUARTER

Confronted with a deficit and mindful of maintaining its unbeaten status at home Williamstown lifted in the final quarter. Steven Greene, David Stretton and Guy O’Keefe were full of run and Dean Galea and Jason Cloke were great up forward. Stephen Tiller played an outstanding quarter in defence with Cameron Wight and Josh Hill found space up forward to take 6 marks. The Seagulls missed a number of easy shots on goal after dominating the final quarter to win its 9th game of the season and open up a two game break as ladder leaders.

Williamstown maintained its unbeaten status by defeating the fourth placed Frankston by 115 points. After an even first half when it was a fierce and rugged contest, the overall strength and talent of Williamstown overpowered the Dolphins.
