Street got one week.

I know he probably couldnt have done anything to stop what he did, but i think he can count himself lucky with only one week.

Seagulls put Pies to the sword

Williamstown played Collingwood at MC Labour Park in Round 11 of VFL action on Saturday. Williamstown made only the one change – Tom Langlands came in for his first senior game of the season and Malcolm Lynch was dropped to the Reserves.

FIRST QUARTER

Collingwood won the toss and kicked to the favoured end. Williamstown begun brightly with Peter Street pushing forward to mark but missed his shot at goal. Brennan Stack limped off tin the opening minutes with an injury and did not return for the rest of the game. Collingwood was playing with plenty of intent and Sam Iles, Ryan Cook, Paul Licuria and John Anthony were leading the way. Up forward Brent Macaffer kicked 3 first quarter goals to establish an early lead. Patrick Rose, Brett Johnson, Josh Hill and Ben Jolley were lively for the Seagulls.

SECOND QUARTER

Collingwood begun brightly and kicked a goal in the opening minutes to establish a 4 goal lead. The Seagulls responded with forwards Jason Cloke and Dean Galea finding space and providing strong targets. Steven Greene was moved onto the dangerous Sam Iles and blanketed him out of the game. The Seagulls was now totally on top and if they were more accurate in front of goal looked capable of establishing a big half time lead. Late goals to Adam Cook and Josh Hill saw Williamstown lead by 14 points even though they kicked a wasteful 5 goals 9 behinds during the quarter.

THIRD QUARTER

This quarter became a real struggle with both sides defences well on top. McDougall, Meyer, Harbrow, Tiller and Picken were resolute down back although Collingwood missed a couple of set shots directly in front. Peter Street was reported for charging Shannon Cox and the resultant free kick brought the Pies to within 2 points at ¾ time. David Stretton, Ben Jolley and Brett Johnson had lifted to wrest control in the midfield. Collingwood continued to pepper away at the goal but some near misses left the Seagulls up by 2 points at the last change.

FOURTH QUARTER

With the wind at their back and Peter Street dominating in the Ruck Williamstown were able to kick 6 goals in the opening 11 minutes to seal the result. Captain Brett Johnson kicked 2 goals as did both Patrick Rose and Josh Hill. Jarrod Harbrow was in everything and youngsters Easton Wood and Sam Reid were prominent. Williamstown was able to run out convincing winners by 34 points to retain top position on the ladder and extend its winning run to 7.

RESERVES WRAP

Williamstown reserves continued their unbeaten run and recorded their ninth consecutive victory with a 74 point victory over the Northern Bullants. Although forced to make 5 changes through injury, the depth of the club was highlighted by the performance of the inclusions.
