The Willy ressies smashed the Box Hill ressies by 101pts.

Easton Wood kicked a couple, and James Mulligan kicked at least 3 i think, 1 was special, shouldnt be able to kick a goal the way he did, freak goal.

I stayed and watched about the first 5mins of the senior game then headed off to watch Werribee.

How did Guy O'Keefe and Malcolm Lynch play?

Maybe you guys haven't got the news yet, but Skipper and McDougall copped what may be serious knee injuries (Skipper's is the 'better' of the two with maybe 6-8 weeks on the the sideline), and in the reserves, O'Shea got reported for striking.

Not a good weekend overall for Bulldogs fans.

Williamstown kicked 10 goals in the Third Quarter to run away from the bottom of the table Box Hill Hawks on Saturday and record a 63 point victory. David Stretton did his State squad hopes no harm with a B.O.G 39 disposals performance and was ably assisted by Callan Ward, Liam Picken and 5 goal forward Patrick Rose.

MATCH REPORT

Williamstown hosted bottom of the ladder Box Hill Hawks in Round 8 action in the VFL last Saturday. Williamstown made three changes to the side that defeated Bendigo Bombers in Round 7. Wayde Skipper, Stephen Tiller and Josh Hill came into the side for the promoted Farren Ray and Dean Galea and Kane McKenzie were dropped to the reserves.

FIRST QUARTER

The game opened in perfect conditions with Box Hill attacking with the Williamstown defence led by Stephen Tiller, Andrejs Everitt, Brennan Stack, and Scott Meyer repelling their attacks. Jason Cloke was lively up forward and kicking Seagulls both goals, but Box Hill were definitely on top. Peter Street was continuing his fine form and Callan Ward and Liam Picken were good on the ball.

Williamstown 2.4 (16) Box Hill 3.5 (23)

SECOND QUARTER

Williamstown lifted in the second quarter even though Wayde Skipper was unable to return after injuring his knee in the first quarter. The Seagulls player stocks were then depleted further when Andrew McDougall limped from the ground with a knee injury. David Stretton continued to dominate with 18 Disposals to half time as Jarrod Harbrow, Josh Hill and Guy O’Keefe lifted with Matthew Little, Jarrad Grant and Patrick Rose dangerous up forward. The Towners were able to establish a 5 point lead at half time in a tight game.

Williamstown 8.7 (55) Box Hill 7.8 (50)

THIRD QUARTER

Box Hill began the third quarter by kicking the opening two goals to grab the lead. This seemed to jolt Williamstown into action and in the next 25 minutes the Seagulls kicked 10 goals to establish a 44 point lead. David Stretton was everywhere and he was supported by Brett Johnson, Ben Jolley, Malcolm Lynch, Callan Ward and Patrick Rose. The Box Hill side dropped off and was swamped by the overall lift in intensity by Williamstown. Towners went into the last break with a 44 point advantage.

Williamstown 18.11 (119) Box Hill 11.9 (75)

FOURTH QUARTER

The last quarter saw Williamstown increase their lead by kicking 5 goals to 2 with Rose and Little the major goal kickers. Stretton and Ward continued to pick up many possessions on the back of Street’s dominance around the ground and at the centre bounces. Picken and Tiller continued their fine form in defence and Williamstown confirmed their fourth consecutive victory and their position at the top of the ladder heading into the state game bye.

Tragic to hear the injuries to the Dog's boys. Sounds like Skip just has a medial or a posterior cruciate if it's 6-8 weeks.

Not good to hear about Doogs either.

Impressive that Williamstown were able to power on with two short on the bench and end up winning by 10 goals.

I would've said it's at least a good chance for O'Shea to come back to the senior side but now he's gotten himself reported.

Dale61- 05-26-2008

Apparently he got reported early in the first quarter, so his goal must have come even earlier as I think there is a send-off rule in the VFL Reserves (but I'm more than happy to be corrected).

doggies40- 05-26-2008

I thought his goal came in the last qtr, or maybe it was the 2nd, im sure it was the end i was sitting up, the end where you walk in.

Dale61- 05-26-2008

Mate, I wasn't there, but just assumed that as he has been playing as a key forward, and that he kicked a bag last week, his report may have been of a send-off level.

For his sake, I hope it wasn't as that would usually mean a minimum 3 weeks, if he accepts the penalty.
