DoggyOutWest- 08-08-2008

Yeah, look, I'm not going to troll in here, I just wanted to say my piece and that's it. If anybody wants to join me, that's up to you. Thanks Craggs!! I'm also taking it to the next step. I'm boycotting all major sponsors of the Games as well, which for me is extremely difficult, as I currently drink about 3-4 litres of Coke a day (doggies40 will at-*test*-('") to the fact my pantry usually only has Coke in it!) but for the next two weeks, no Coke for me! No McDonalds... (not a great loss) I'm even going into the bank and withdrawing my entire pay cheque so I don't have to use my Visa card. (another major sponsor)!! I may not make much of a difference, but those companies have plunged money into a despotic state, and I won't help them get any ROI on it in the next two weeks...

3-4 litres of Coke A DAY! Couldn't imagine Craggs giving up HIS Coke. :rofl Is the word "Boycotting" the new black where the Olympics are concerned?

Apophis- 08-08-2008

The only time I watch channel 7 is for Friday Night Football, and the only show on SBS that I watch is Top Gear. Nothing will change over the next few weeks.

I'm already hating it!! Thanks to their ^*$%$ opening ^#$(& ceremony, which clashed with the Manly Vs Storm game (FIRST VERSUS SECOND!!) my local bar refused to show the game because they were 'catering to all nationalities' and it was a 'once in a lifetime performance' TAPE THE BL00DY THING!! I'm sure there's enough lie in the thing to play it hundreds of times before it conks out!! I'll only be watching if there's nothing else on or if (while im channel surfing) an aussie is competing

Girls are doing well in the pool, aside from Rice's great swim yesterday, Trickett and Schipper just came first and third in the 100 butterfly! Well done girls!

mighty_west- 08-10-2008

A bit of a lackluster performance from the Mens b-ball team, and big words from the 45 million dollar man Bogut in wiping the smug looks from people faces when playing the Aussie team. Pity ch7 showed ONLY 4 minutes of the game. The Socceroo's also went to down to Argentina 0-1, which was a see sawing battle, Argentina making most of the play, but Australia very tight in defence, was nil all for most of the game, but couldn't hold off Argentina scoring a goal late in the game.

Boomers will never be a superpower at International competition, at times I'm sure the Opals could wipe the floor with them, harsh, but our girls are so successful. Didn't see any of their game against Croatia but very disappointed to hear this morning. Hopefully Goorjian can "rally" the troops for the rest of the Games.

Yeah we are ranked 9th in the world, Croatia ranked 20th, even Gaze was talking us up before the games. I guess it doesn't help with us never really going to compete with the big guns if our local comp is always in shambles, doesn't give great confidence in young kids taking up the sport on a serious level. Maybe the NBL needs to closely look at what Soccer has done in this country, and until it does, we are always going to be second rate.

mighty_west- 08-10-2008

Currently, the Aussies are ranked 4th in medals with 2 gold and 3 bronze. http://results.beijing2008.cn/WRM/ENG/INF/GL/92A/AUS_T.shtml

LOL Gaze is in Fairytale Land to expect a medal. He knows more than he's letting on, although I'd love to be proven wrong. It's probably our strongest side in years, but the USA's and European teams keep getting better also. Nah, people just aren't interested in basketball the same way they are interested in football, and Ben might agree, netball, it's had a huge facelift in Australia. You can ask the people on this board though, they'll support a team but not go to games or get a membership. I don't think that a re-shuffle would make the sligh-*test*-('") amount of difference unfortunately. The NBL is in dire, desperate trouble. Teams last a few years and that's it. You can win a championship and 2 years later, gawn (ie Bullets, Kings) But aside from that, we just don't have the market to keep elite players around. As soon as they're old enough to head OS to USA colleges, they will. More so, the money that is thrown at them in Europe, why bother coming home? We can't do enough to entice players home and we can't take care of them the way they are OS. But err back on topic, Go Boomers and Opals regardless!

Got into the road cycling on the weekend. Shame there was no medal glory for the Aussies.

Got into the road cycling on the weekend. Shame there was no medal glory for the Aussies. Only saw the Men's roadrace, mised the ladies. Apparently many a stack in the wet weather? Opals keep moving along nicely, disposing of Brazil overnight. I wish I had seen it though. Apparently quite lackluster with Big Suzy and Jackson on the bench in foul trouble. Time to find some form, ladies! I watched Judo last night. ... I don't know why.

Well Madeleine Pape, girlfriend of our very own Will Minson, didnt do to well in her heat of the 800m running yesterday, in fact she came 6th of of 7 runners if i rememebr right, but we have an ex bulldog player in the rowing final today, Cameron McKenzie-McHargh. He was drafted in 99 or 00 or someting like that i cant really remember, but heres a story on him and the other 3 members of the team. http://news.ninemsn.com.au/olympics/article.aspx?id=613925 His race is at 7.30 tonight. Heres his profile, looks so different. http://results.beijing2008.cn/WRM/ENG/BIO/Athlete/3/210473.shtml
