Hi,
I came to Australia around Grand Finals day 2006 and got hooked on AFL pretty much instantly. Just finished my first year as a Doggies fan so I'm still learning the rudiments of the game but I'm getting there.

Hopefully this forum will get me up to speed.

My name is Andrew, i have been supporting the Bulldogs ever since i was born. Was born into this great club of ours as my Dad has been supporting the club for over 40 years, but still have no complaints.

I have had many favourite players over the years, Billy the kid, Granty & Bubba.

But my current favourite would have to be Tom Williams, this guy is going to be a champion.

Sports i like: AFL, Football (Soccer), Basketball & MotoGP

Things i like to do: Swimming, Cycling & watching live sport.

I'm a Portuguese soccer/ Sporting Lisbon fan who somehow acquired a taste for Australian football and the Footscray Bulldogs. Stranger things have happened, I suppose. So carn the Dogs, or as we would say, FORÇA CÃES!

Unfortunately AFL matches are not broadcast in Portugal, so I stay in touch thanks to the internet. I usually check the AFL site for news and highlights, but most of their videos are only available to Bigpond subscribers. I listen to games on online radio, especially night games, because afternoon ones start at 4 or 5 am Portuguese time. I also visit fans' and press sites to see how Footscray are doing. I got to know Australian football thanks to a XZ Spectrum game (anyone remembers that?) and for a brief period I had access to SKY TV and caught matches and highlights whenever I could.
Thanks to all that I learned what clubs played in the AFL and ended up choosing to support the Dogs because, basically, at one point they were told that they were dead but they came out "barking and roaring" and defeated the League and all its might. Any sports fan is bound to respect that. Also, we have had great players through the years and certainly have made our mark on the Game and the League. I was disappointed last season, because I honestly thought we were headed for the finals and everything suddenly came apart, but I'm already looking forward to 2008 and another year of long distance support.
