NEW SIGNING!! :hail: Victory confirms Berger signing Tuesday, 29 May 2007 Evan Berger Melbourne Victory today announced the signing of exciting youngster Evan Berger on a two-year deal from NSW Premier League side Marconi Stallions. The 19-year-old midfielder joins Leigh Broxham and Mitchell Langerak as the Hyundai A-League Champions’ required three Under 20 signings. Victory coach Ernie Merrick seized the opportunity to sign the impressive Qantas Young Socceroo representative after casting his gaze over Berger during a recent two week trial in Melbourne. “Oh, he’s quick,” Merrick said. “He’s quick and skillful and I firmly believe he has a very bright future. “We’ve always taken the opportunity to sign young talent with a view to the future, and with the likes of Evan, Leigh and Mitchell we’re starting to see a real pattern of development which I’m confident will see us remain successful for many years to come.” Berger was understandably delighted with the opportunity to join Australia’s biggest club. “During my trial I got the opportunity to see first hand how professional the club is both on and off the park,” said Berger. “It’s easy to see why they have done so well. Victory has a good squad and a great set up. The facilities are first class and I’m really looking forward to moving to Melbourne.” Berger will see out the NSW Premier League season with Marconi, before linking with his new team-mates in preparation for the Hyundai A-League 2007/08 season. Meanwhile, the rest of the Victory squad will continue its preparations for the new season with a series of practice games against Victorian Foxtel Cup opposition. The Hyundai A-League Champions will take on Richmond Eagles at Kevin Bartlett Reserve next Wednesday, 6 June, before facing Oakleigh Cannons at Jack Edwards Reserve on Wednesday, 13 June. Both games are scheduled for a 7:00pm kick-off and will be open to the public free of charge. Sounds like a good kid. http://www.mvfc.com.au/default.aspx?s=mvfc_newsdisplay&id=17940

:hail:  :hail:  :hail: GO GLORY!! :hail:  :hail:  :hail: Glory will have to pull one out of the bag this season. They are in a bit of trouble, but appear to have steadied the ship with new owners, stadium deal, a couple of good signings etc. Some early season form and a sniff of success might drag the fans back.
