Maribyrnong City Council tries to squash Bulldogs?
watch the footy show as they have announced they have news on the dogs who were apparently dead as a club yesterday. hutchy will have news when on. mabye some very worrying signs for us.

shocked me when I heard that announced on TFS - probably just a beat-up. Surely we're past all that nonsense?

yes but they said we were dead as a club yesterday. so to be dead you would think we would have claimed bankruptcy or something. wonder what happened. im actully very nervous right now.

im only guessing but i think i might have something to do with our sponsership?? i guess we will know soon enough

Bulldogs chief executive Campbell Rose last night revealed a town planning wrangle had threatened to halt the Whitten Oval re-development and bring down the club. "We were days from the brink and moments from financial ruin," Rose told the Herald Sun. If the government had not stepped in yesterday to over-rule the City of Maribyrong, the Dogs were facing the grim prospect of being burdened with a half-finished administration building and a $6 million bill. Rose confirmed the Dogs had only until the end of the month to sort out the dispute before the builders could no continue because of lack of approvals. As the Dogs racked up wins on-field in recent months, the club was privately fighting a losing battle with the local council, which refused to approve plans for Victoria University to run courses in the re-developed John Gent Stand. "The screws were tightening as things were going so well on the field," Rose said. "There would have been a $6 million gap. thank god everything is going ahead. i carn't see why the council will be such pricks as you would think the redevolopment would be for the better of footscray.

well like i said before. thank god everything is going ahead and we don't have to worry about being 6 mil in the red. i find it wierd that they approve the site only for them to halfway have a problem with it.

For obvious reasons, I missed TFS last night (i.e it's poxy) so this is all a bit of a surprise to me and to most I would say. The renno at WO will brighten the suburb up, the council should be ashamed of themselves for even attempting to halt this process, especially considering all the work the Bulldogs do for the local community. Scary thought that our team was in the noose and not a single one of us knew it.

Marby Council are a disgrace. The whole process has been working towards building a community hub, hence the government funding, VU interest and partnerships. To stall it all and try to bring the City's heart to its knees is a low act from a bunch of dirty rotten local politicians. Remember these are the arseholes that will stop a family from doing up there house, but allow a massive high density apartment complex be built over your yard. The Council is full of up starts who failed to make it in the big time and moved straight out of student politics into the real world. They live in "Kensington East" because they want all the benefits of living in Footscray but don't want to associate with the area. Keep making jobs for yourselves you pricks. I'd say a fair bit of it is due to petulence. We're challenging the ruling over the Hotel at Edgewater and they're not happy about it. Very poor form.

Maribyrnong City Council are a dead set joke at times. They have wrecked many of the roads around the Footscray, Seddon, and Yarraville areas by planting bushes and trees on the roads to restrict parking and traffic flow. When it comes to trying to get a permit, it seems that glaciers move faster. There are too many levels of governemt in this country. The quicker local councils are abolished the better.
