A DECADE ago Matt Geyer almost did what would now be considered unthinkable - quit Melbourne Storm.
Geyer yesterday revealed he asked for a release from the club in its inaugural year in 1998 and was on the verge of joining North Queensland when fate intervened.
His club-record games tally of 249 almost ended at five.
