Watching the match now, it reminds me so much of last week.

Geelong on the ropes, but the only difference between us & Hawthorn.

They are kicking straight.

29 scoring shots and 7 goals LOL Geelong Wow, enjoy your grog, Ryan!

Doesn't make me respect the Hawks one once though. Scary prospect, without Roughy and Franklin, still a force. Sheesh.

I just LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE being right!!!

6 whole months, every bastard who "knew anything about football" telling me I'm wrong and an idiot for even thinking Geelong wouldn't win it.

Well, I've been saying it the whole time, they're just NOT BLOODY GOOD ENOUGH to go back to back and finally: VINDICATION!!!

It tastes better than the grog (just barely...)

To be honest, both Cats and Hawks supporters have been very, very cocky in the weeks leading up to this one. I started the game going for the Cat's purely because a) better the devil you know and b) I had money on the Cats (hedged the bet at 3/4 though and halved my losses).

By the end of the game however, I really can't help but really respecting this Hawthorn side. They left nothing in the tank out there today and gave a red hot crack from start to finish. This was despite Franklin and Roughy being well held by Geelong.

Well done Hawks and well done Shane Crawford.

It is scary though, because they have won a flag right at the start of their premiership window. They will be a much improved side next year so it is up to the Dog's to raise the level 1.5 times just to catch up.

The best part was, it was the Bulldogs last week who showed them the way.

We had them on the ropes, but couldn't kick straight.

Dennis Cometti said the same thing after the game yesterday.

I didn't know, I switched it off after the presentations.

I think another factor was that Geelong were pushed into a losing situation, with a very limited time in which to pull back the deficit. The downside of a 44 out of 46 game streak is that the players don't know how to recover when they're getting hammered. They're so used to being able to win a game, even if they play badly, that they didn't quite know how to tackle the situation.

That called for somebody to stand up and lead, drive his men and firm up the lines, but nobody stood up to the task besides Ablett.
