OK dude, I'm not gonna go back and forth all day with it. I'd invite you to check out Hawthorn's success with their scarves. Otherwise, yeah, agree to disagree.
So what happens if the Dogs beat last years membership numbers?
By the way, members can get a scarf if they want, or they can have a cap, but they also get a dvd, seems like a win/win to me.

Whilst what the Hawks are doing with their scarves, and have had them for what, 12 or so years now?...maybe longer, we also went down that route, we have had that scarf for the past 3 or 4 years, and thats great, but there was also a backlash at the club not having a dvd highlights package in which other clubs have given their members, especially Port Adelaide, so it's one of those, you can't have it both ways unfortunatly, we are not a power club, we simply cannot afford to give all.
If you're going to say the scarves are the reason why the Hawks are flying off the field, thats simply not true, like i said, they have had those scarves for over a decade, and they certaintly havn't been in the position they are now for all that time, there are many reasons for that success.
Like i have said, the package this year is probably the best we have been given, you can have either the scarf or cap, plus you get a dvd, and little Jimmy can use the pencil case showing off the Doggies logo at school, thats a win/win for mine!
The other issues are that members have to go in & collect their cap or scarf, and whilst that can be an issue for people who live far away, they can still collect them at the family day or game day, and of the club saves an extra $60-$80,000 on that, then that HAS to be a good thing.`

Well, as I said, we're not talking about you and I. And when I refer to the Hawthorn scarves, I'm referring to the number of years a consecutive member embroidered on the scarf. Not only does it encourage re-signing, but it shows appreciation and acknowledgement of your support.
I also was not saying the club had not done enough to satisfy me, just that I did notice the drop, and I also believe that whilst a good club and good value for me, I think they can still improve for minimal cost. But my satisfaction is coming in September.
Anyway, enough now. Had a gutty of this particular discussion.

Meanwhile, I don't know how often the membership numbers are being updated on the Dogs website (seems to be floating atound the 15,500 mark for a while).
As per the website, current numbers are at 15,579.
Have you renewed for 2009 yet?
